Tax returns for non-resident aliens
Hi all, I'm a total newbie when it comes to filing taxes.
I started working in the US last September with an H-1b.
As a non-resident alien filing for 2021 tax returns, what do you recommend? Should I do it myself (Form 1040NR) or use a service like Sprintax? What are the pros and cons?
Thanks folks!

Hey @shayan, been here since mid-September last year. So a little more than 4 months. I don't pass the substantial presence test if that's what you are alluding to

Ok , than use sprintax it’s better then filling it yourself to get maximum deductions also it will avoid errors .

Thanks @shayan, I'll look into it. Also, do you know if my wife (H-4, moved to the US w/ me) also has to file separately?

you guys can do together or separate-Filing jointly you are entitled to greater amount of deductions then filing separately.
