Tax return payment
My husband is an US Citizen.
He recently got some letters from IRS that says he hasn’t paid back some tax from 10 years ago and couple years ago.
Somehow he thought he paid already but apparently he didn’t. He made a payment.
My questions are
- Why IRS suddenly sent him tax return letter from 10 years ago.
- Is it because USCIS is processing the form and checking him tax return info?
- If so, they should have sent me RFE about it?
what do you guys think?
My status hasn’t updated at all and I’m a bit anxious.

-USCIS does not have access to any of your tax returns.
-USCIS cannot obtain your tax return from the IRS without your permission.
-This IRS letter has nothing to do with your USCIS case.
-Be rest assured, the IRS & USCIS don’t discuss tax & immigration cases with each other. You’re fine.

@yumi k IRS and USCIS do not communicate like that. Get the back taxes taken care of. Even if you owe tax, it is not going to be a bad thing for you. My husbands business has not filed its tax return yet for 2023. He owns the business. I understand the anxiety and stress. Please try not to overthink.
