me too im nigerian as well. i dont understand there are so many conflicting news reports. but i have not seen any official communication yet about it. this is the only official communication i have seen on the White House website, and it states nothing about a green card ban. im even currently out of the country with advanced parole and not sure of what i will face at the airport https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/12/restricting-and-limiting-the-entry-of-foreign-nationals-to-protect-the-security-of-the-united-states/

Countries Under the Travel Ban The ban is divided into two categories: "Full Restrictions" (total ban on almost all visas) and "Partial Restrictions" (ban on specific visas like tourist, student, and immigrant visas). Full Restrictions (Total Ban on Immigrant and Non-Immigrant Visas) These 19 countries face the most severe restrictions:  • Original 12: Afghanistan, Burma (Myanmar), Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.  • Added/Elevated in December 2025: Burkina Faso, Laos, Mali, Niger, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Syria.  • Note: Individuals with Palestinian Authority-issued travel documents are also fully restricted.  Partial Restrictions (Immigrant Visas & B, F, M, J Non-Immigrant Visas) These 20 countries are restricted from sending new immigrants or those on tourist/student visas:  • Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Burundi, Côte d'Ivoire, Cuba, Dominica, Gabon, The Gambia, Malawi, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Togo, Tonga, Turkmenistan, Venezuela, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.  2. Is it true that Green Card applications are suspended? Yes, but with specific nuances. In December 2025, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) issued a memorandum that changed how applications are handled:  • The "Adjudication Pause": USCIS has effectively suspended the adjudication (the final decision-making process) for most immigration benefits for nationals of the banned countries. This includes Form I-485 (Adjustment of Status), which is the final step for a Green Card.  • Can you still file? Technically, you are still allowed to file the paperwork to keep your place in line or maintain status, but the government has instructed officers not to approve or finalize them until further notice. • Impact on existing Green Card holders: If you already have a physical Green Card (Lawful Permanent Resident status), you are generally exempt from the travel ban and can still travel and re-enter the U.S., though you may face "extreme vetting" or additional screening at the border.  3. Key Exceptions While the ban is broad, there are still a few categories of people who may not be affected: • Dual Nationals: If you are a citizen of a banned country but also hold a passport from a country not on the list (e.g., a dual Iranian-Canadian citizen), you can enter using the non-banned passport.  • Valid Visas: Generally, if you had a valid visa issued before the ban's effective date (January 1, 2026, for the expanded list), it is not automatically revoked, though renewals may be impossible.  • Diplomats: Those traveling on official government business (A or G visas) are typically exempt.
