supplement J Form.
do we actually need Supplement J form if someone is working more than 2 years for the same employer? my friend had and interview and when he showed Supplement J during the interview, the was kind of mad that why you need supplement J when you are working for the same employer. i am kind of confused about it. what do you think?

ofcourse, if u r working for same employer, you don't need supJ.

if you change your employer, then u need sup J.

sup J is only if you change sponsor

it’s not accurate the Supplemnt J Can be used to confirm that the job offer on the I-140 is still valid if you have not changed jobs. but again, only give the agent the documents they will ask for you

@GB B that’s what I thought, its a 2 edge sword though. if you present this to officer then you might get the RFE adding more time. if you give it to officer without him asking, they might suspect why we are showing him without him asking.

@GB B if USCIS did not send you RFE to confirm job offer why are you filling out supplement J? Except you have not been working for them, then this could be valid. Paystub and timecards are much more valid if you are working for them already

@La Moin I mean they asked us to bring to interview and lawyers always provided that ; I had 2 interviews same sponsor - that’s why I think we still need it

sup j is not only if you are changing employer, it also proves that you have bona fide job offer with your current employer.

@eb3 other correct. my first interview I just handed it to them even though they don’t ask. officer asked me why? and then she realized it is to confirm bona fide not changing r employer. Mine got approved after 9 months
La Moin2d
Again, people are just used to going above and beyond when not necessary... if USCIS does not send you RFE and you have been working for same employer... you do not need it
La Moin2d
At the interview.. paystub carries much more weight than any sup J... if you have not been working for your employer.. then sup J is vital
La Moin2d
How can you not have bonafide job offer when you have been working for same employer for 2years Are you a ghost worker?? Just unnecessary docs lawyers make you do to make you feel they are working

@GB B is correct. I'm not working for my original employer and as a result, the office sent me a rfe for my 485J after my first interview to confirm the original offer is still valid.
