Subject: Urgent Protection Concern – Unsafe Living Situation (I-130 Pending)
Hello everyone I am currently in a very difficult and vulnerable situation and I am seeking advice and support from this community. I am a Rohingya refugee living in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. I have a pending I-130 petition filed by my brother in the United States. While waiting for my case, my safety situation has become very serious. Recently, I have been facing threats from local gangs who are trying to force me to join them. Because of this, I am unable to stay safely in my own shelter. Even my family is afraid and cannot provide me a secure place to live. I am currently moving from place to place and feel at risk most of the time. This situation is affecting my mental health, safety, and daily life. I am worried about what could happen if this continues. I would like to ask: - Has anyone faced a similar situation while waiting for I-130? - Is there any way to request urgent help, protection, or faster processing due to safety risk? - What steps can I take to stay safe or seek legal assistance? Any advice, guidance, or shared experience would mean a lot to me. Thank you for taking the time to read my situation.

@Abu Talha Unfortunately, there is no type of petition that can assist you if you are currently in the I-130 process. The only option is to apply for asylum; however, since you are already in the midst of the I-130 process, you would have to abandon it—thereby running the risk that your case could be categorized as fraudulent.

siblings petitions are taking 10-25 years so it's better to research on the asylum process and use that instead. Gather as much evidence as you can too.
