SSN
Hey y’all,
As updated yesterday, I received my EAD combo card on Friday (March 11th) without my SSN.
According to the USCIS & SSN websites, they mail the ssn card to the address listed on the I-765 application and we will receive in no later than 7 business days.
Clearly 7 business days hasn’t passed yet, but I went ahead and called my local ssn office and they said they don’t have my record on their file. Therefore, I went ahead and asked them to schedule me an appointment.
Is this ok or should I wait for 7 business days to pass by and if didn’t receive the ssn then contact local office and schedule appointment?

that’s ok bcuz I see persons who wait for weeks and still nothing and end up right at SSA to apply for one, the thing is this even if one was sent for you they will know that it was processed and mail out, so it’s not like you will be given 2 different numbers

I don’t think the local offices know if it’s been processed as I waited 4 weeks, the day I called the SS office to book an appointment they said none had been processed. it arrived in the mail fours hrs later.

@S B but how can they not know though wouldn’t it be on the system? I know 3 different job offers and I don’t wanna loose them by waiting and nothing comes. sigh

@S B how would they not know for real, so you’re saying let’s say the local office doesn’t know and you make and appointment to do then since it didn’t came in the mail within a week and you go to your local office to have it processed and they process it, you would be getting a different number then? and that’s not possible to have one name under 2 different social security number so in other words the local office would know the person you spoke to was probably too lazy to check for u

I know, it’s crazy. I asked the office if they had any record and they looked it up and said no. you need to make an apt. then it arrived in mail. it’s was 4 weeks after the EAD arrived too

@shari Mac that’s exactly what I’m saying but I think it’s something like that because I called 2 different offices and was told the same thing, one even told me that I can’t get an appt until after 30days and the next took my info and said they’ll call me back before the day end with the details regarding the appt and up to this sec nothing. It’s so frustrating and depressing dealing with these gov’t agencies but if it take 7 days from approval of EAD for the SSN to be here I believe they’d at least see even a pending case in the system

@Name Unknown so true, I was so glad when I got my SSN with my combo card because I hate dealing with these government agencies

If you filed together, you will receive it the mail before 2 weeks, but if you don't filed together you need to schedule for appointment @SNN

I actually called my local SSA office and they said that the ssn card was produced on Feb 25th (the day my EAD was approved) but I still didn’t get it in the mail 😔 and they refuse to set up an appointment for me and said that I have to wait 30 days 🧐 but on the web site it says 7 days so confused! don’t know what to do 😣

Can anyone here assist me please, I went to the SSA for my appointment and the information on their system is mismatch so they can’t issue me a SSN

Ro Ro once you have you EAD and passport they should be able to rectify that for you because all your info would be there and at least your parents name and your DOB should be there to prove it is you
