Social Security Number
Hi all,
I applied to get a SSN almost 3 months now. I called the social security office and went there in person, but they told me that the Department of Homeland Security did not verify the information I submitted. This is very stressful because I need to do a background check for work, but I couldn't do it because I need a four last digit of SSN. How hard would it be to verify somebody's information? I submitted everything.
Do you guys think it is a good idea to reach out to the Department of Homeland Security? Thanks

do you have your work permit and if yes then you should show them your work permit at social security office and if they don’t approve your social it means that when you applied you didn’t check the box that says you need social. that will be the only reason why social security office won’t approve the social.

@God’s daughter Yes, I do have a working permit and I showed it to them. My working permit is based on approved VAWA and not I765 so I wasn't able to request a Social security number. The social security officer told me that the DHS needs to verify my information given which is the problem. Why it took them months & months to verify somebody's information.

I just reached out to my lawyer if would it be possible for me to reach out the DHS office. I am starting to get annoyed because there is a great work opportunity offered to me. But, I need a background check and inorder for me to do that I need a SSN.😭

@bogata bogata so because it’s your first and it’s through vawa yes DHS need to verify it assuming it’s just the regular work permit route then before it get approved it will be verified

@Mr uscis blog Ugh!!! I'm so sorry. This is crazy! Why it takes them forever to verify information. They only need to verify information we submitted so that social security office can issue a SSN.....How hard could that be! what a joke. I'm starting to get frustrated bc I just accepted a nice job offer. I would lose it because of the Department of Homeland Security not doing their job. Frustrating!💔

@bogata bogata I’m stuck in this job for 16$/hr cause they fault they made a mistake who gotta pay for that? me I just got a late payment on my car on my house because this they put me on hold to a another job 28$/hr sometime I feel like I can’t leave in this country anymore but I don’t have no choice I don’t have any other option 🤦♂️🤷♂️😭😭😭

@Mr uscis blog I just reached out to a Representative, but I'll let you know how it goes if they will reply. This immigration process is a joke! It took them forever to approve a case and months & months to give someone a SSN. How hard would that be to verify information. It really sucks and I'm afraid the work that I applied would let me go because they need a background check. sucksss!!!😭💔
