Social Security Number - CLOSED OFFICES
They skipped my EAD and I got my GC. I'm trying to figure out how to apply for SSN in Orlando. The local office said that I have to keep calling at least twice a week to get an appointment. Because they don't have any right now. THAT IS INSANE!

Ask if they have a waiting list to get an appointment. Also, your SSN may be coming but lately is taking around a month for what I have been seeing and experienced myself.

when did you file your 485 and was it employment based?? Which office NBC?

@Tina Cot, yes it did. However I made an appointment with the SS office to get a letter saying that the number was assigned to me in the meantime the card came in the mail.

I am still waiting for mine. It has been 15 days since i got EAD in the mail. lical SS office wont accept my application and tells me to wait 8 weeks. I lost a my dream job because of this.

I would request an appointment and tell them you need to get a SSN or if they can check if they have assigned one to you yet? If you have your EAD they should know you need to have a SSN. I had to wait two weeks to get an appointment with my local SS office because there’s a waiting list to get an appointment. The day I went they said I got one assigned to me the day before and they made a letter for me with my number for employment purposes.

I went for an appointment already. the staff took my application but said she will hold it and process it 8 weeks from when the ead was issued to me. Ever since i got the ead, ive called almost everyday to check of a number or card has been issued.

same thing happened to me. i just got GC on 01/26/22 now im waiting for thr SSN but still nothing until now. i called the SSA nearest to me and my appointment with them is on 1st of March. still i wish it comes without me having to go there 😒😒

@nana Howe! After almost 2 weeks of calling every day, they gave an appointment on 03/03. I have a job offer now. I need it ASAP.

i hope you get it soon. im still waiting for it too :( can you talk to your employer about it? i have read in some post that they can take you in and wait till you get ssn
