Should I apply for N400?
hi everyone, i filled for i751 on Jan 7th 2021, last update was a year ago when they reused my biometrics. WAC office (California). I’ve been eligible to apply for N400 for almost a year but i haven’t yet. I don’t want to wait even longer but on the other hand i want my journey to be finished ASAP :) Anyone filled for N400 and speed up their process? any insight/similar experiences are appreciated!

Hey! I filed N-400 in February this year, and I also have a pending I-751 since November 2021. In my case, it didn’t really speed up the process. My I-751 was transferred to a different office after I filed N-400 which I guess is a good thing but usually actual processing time depends on your local office. Mine is Sam Francisco, and processing time here is up to 10-12 months right now. I see that they prioritize cases filed under 5 year rule while 3 year rule with pending I-751 wait longer for some reason.

I filed i751 in Feb 2019. since that time my case was ready for interview but no update. I filed n400 last year. they scheduled my n400 interview and then they say I have pending i751 then they send me RFE on i751 and canceled n400 interview. since I respond rfe... so far no update

I had a pending i751 for 2 years and once I was eligible for N-400 I filed it and in less than 3 months they setup an interview, told me I wasn't eligible for N-400 and approved my 1-751 I still did the test and when I reach home I got a call from the IO saying after further review she's denying me N-400 for approval

Yes, @gg g My I-751 was transferred to NBC on March 2d, right before my biometrics for N-400.

@Tevin Roberts what was the reason for denial?

@Olia Z she I needed to wait 5 years, because I had already gotten divorced.......I knew I didn't have to but I didn't argue with them

I filed my I-751 in July 2021 and N400 in June 2022. My I-751 was approved in October 2022 after one RFE. I am still waiting for my N400 interview. Local field office is Sacramento CA

I filled for my i751 in January 2021 and filled n400 in November 2022. Few days after filling n400, i751 was transferred to NBC. Did my n400 interview with the pending i751 June 9th and my i751 was approved June 22nd now just waiting for my oath ceremony. This is the Baltimore field office. In my opinion I don’t think the n400 speeds up the process, I think it makes the whole journey ends faster. Because whenever they have to look at your case they would look at both applications and if it goes well, you might just be done sooner. So if you’re eligible please file you’ve nothing to lose.

@Isi A Congratulations! At the end if your N-400 interview did they give you a “decision cannot be made” or did you have a combo interview?
