Self Filing or Lawyer
I need advice from those who have filed without legal assistance.
How advisable is it to file vawa by myself. I have all the documented evidence of abuse and I have filled the forms. I filed the initial i130 myself.
I have the funds to pay legal fees but feel like it’s wasted $6k when I can fill the forms and have everything required for a vawa filing.

from my experience both marriage based and vawa a good and experienced lawyer is very important.Its not a waste of money.

I did it myself, received on fab 28, 2022 and got approved on October 2023. just waiting for my i485 to be approved. don’t forget the letters from friends, and the letter from thw police department

@bobby patel for the i485, was a familiar petition at the beginning the PD is sept 2020. and I apply for vawa in feb. 2022

I did it myself but consulted lawyers to go through the documents for me and make sure everything is how it should be and paid them by the hour & it was much cheaper for me to do it that way. I got approved last month. Alhamdulilah
