Selective Service N-400
Hey guys! I will be applying for my citizenship soon and I just got to know about the selective service election. My lawyer who filed my change of status did not mention anything about it. I did not know anything about it, let alone that it is a requirement for all residents/citizens under 26. Im over 26 now and cannot enroll for it. I’m really worried if this will affect my eligibility to naturalize. I read that if you can prove you did not know anything about it, the officer might accept it. But what documents do I need to prove this? Has anyone had a similar experience??

gotcha. sounds like the burden of proof is on you to show you had no idea. I honestly had no idea but I’m female and came to the US at 27 and on a non immigrant visa so I don’t check any boxes. good luck!

hey hope y’all having a great day, I got this question I want to ask, my wife was a green card holder when she file for me now she turned a U.S. citizen what most she do to change my status or to update my filing any can you share your opinion or give me any answers towards this please 🙏🏾 thank you 🙏🏾 All

@Tevin Henry You should definitely get your wife to update the application with USCIS. However know that such a move would switch your application to a different category, and might cause a delay. Goodluck

@Rish . did you get your n-400 approved? I am on the same boat as you.
Rish .Jan 7, 2025
@kin asar turned out I automatically gave my permission for enrollment when I applied for drivers license and when I filed I-485. i used those and contacted selective services. They changed the enrollment status for me. Im yet to be interviewed though

@Rish . I literally did the same thing. I am 27 now can’t register but selective service people asking me to send them I-485 form that received by USCIS so annoying
king asarJan 8, 2025
@Rish . how did you reach them and what information you submitted to them?
Rish .Jan 9, 2025
@kin asar I called SS they gave me an email to send the I-485 (I had a copy of the filled form) and drivers license form( requested from DMV).
king asarJan 14, 2025
@Rish . thanks bro. I got lucky I sent them i485 and receipt notice and they updated, did you add any supportive information why you didn’t register between at the age of 18-26? or no need? essentially, it would be like late registration.
Rish .Jan 14, 2025
@king asar Glad it worked bro, I was in the same situation. I just said yes to having applied for SS. I dont think the interviewer would ask why it was late but in case they would, I will show them the emails and stuff. Plus we have the online record now. Basically we did whatever was needed of us..
