my RFE took 5 days to show up in my documents tab and I had 90 or 120 days to respond to it. you should be fine

@w s Happy Thanksgiving! I noticed on your profile they RFE you on your 485. was it medical or something more serious? Also, it’s been about 40 days since you submitted the response, no movement yet?

it was for a long form birth certificate with parents names on it. I had known that they needed it but it took 6 weeks to get it so I submitted with my small certificate initially. yea it’s been 40 days and radio silence 😭. was hoping things were moving but I’m back to just waiting with the rest of the bunch at NBC… I’m sure your RFE is simple. was it a request for initial evidence or request for additional evidence? they are different. if it’s “additional” it means they want more information on somwthing (ie proof that you’re in a real marriage). If it’s initial evidence it’s most likely medicals, a birth certificate, affidavit of support. I hope that’s helpful.

@w s It’s a request for additional evidence. Do t know what it can be, waiting impatiently to show up under docs. We have a kid together, same address, bank account.. I would contact your representative or Senator to get the RFE moving.

@w s Got the notice this morning. I omitted sending in a dissolution of marriage.. 🤦🏻‍♂️ USCIS provided a link, uploaded the document..

oh fun. yea so if they say to send it in I believe you need to also send in a copy per the instructions. I was instructed to “follow the directions on the notice” in addition to the online upload.

@w s So you also sent a copy along with the letterhead provided in the RFE via USPS?

yes I did. except I sent it through USPS and they lost it so I sent it AGAIN through FedEx :) highly recommend the latter.

@S Singh Examples of evidence are: photos of both of you alone and with friends, joint bank accounts, loans, auto/health insurance, bills with both your names on, credit cards, leases or joint mortgage, ID/DL with the same address, plane tickets from joint vacations, notarized letters from friends who have known both of you before and after the marriage.

@S Singh I can’t tel you yes or no, as it’s at the discretion of the adjudicating officer.. The more evidence you send, the better, as always.
