my case was filed 2020, RFE last year for shared residence, proof of abuse and bona fide marriage. 90 days to respond. responded after 2 months and still waiting. good luck

@j da Silva thanks! I don’t really have much more proof to add beyond what I’ve already submitted. I can get a few statements from friends, and I’m still in therapy, but that’s about it. Just curious have you been able to add any more evidence on your end? Thanks for your answer!!!

@tired from waitingg Exactly asking after 4,5 or 6 years is another abuse , Traumatic response Of the brain is to forget not to remember

They sent me RFE after 4 years of waiting and requested proof of abuse, bonafide marriage, and shared residence. They gave me 87 days to respond. VAWA was approved a month after they received my response. Green Card was approved 5 months after VAWA approval. Wishing you the best. You are almost there. Rooting for you!

@K- MB When did you receive your RFE? whats the deadline they gave you? I heard a lot of people include a psychologist evaluation, especially if you’re still on medication. You should talk to your lawyer too, I’m sure they can suggest what would help. All the best.

It depends on what they need. My case was filed a year after yours. Last summer, I received an RFE for proof of a good-faith marriage and proof of abuse. I was given 89 days to respond. I submitted my response two weeks before the deadline and have been waiting since August for a decision.

@tired from waitingg @K- MB After I got the RFE, I read it multiple times- it was over 5 pages. I tried to understand all the issues they raised in the RFE. I wrote new personal statement (declaration) making sure I addressed (line by line) all the issues they USCIS raised - NEVER contradict yourself from the initial declaration you submitted. I did another psychological evaluation, submitted new affidavit, text messages, receipts, etc. I didn’t have many new evidence to submit and I explained why I didn’t have them in my new statement. I made sure my personal statement was strong and addressed the concerns they raised.

They gave me until April 20th to respond and they’re asking for proof of a bona fide marriage. all I can get, just statements that’s pretty much the only thing I can add. My ex kept me in the dark and handled all the paperwork, so I don’t really have access to much. I’m not in contact with him at all. But a lot of people were involved in our marriage, so I can probably get around 5 to 8 statements confirming it was real. Most of it happened during COVID, so I’ll also rewrite my personal statement. Just wanted to keep you updated.

Did you get married while being in removal proceedings?

@tired from waitingg I didn’t. I actually knew they were working on my case for the last few months, because I got follow-ups from different people saying the fraud supervisor had contacted them, asking them to confirm their statements and even emailed my workplace. They also spoke to people who witnessed the abuse. So I knew they were heavily investigating everything. First it was fraud department, then it got escalated to a Homeland Security supervisor. My lawyer said either I’d get a NOID or an RFE if they weren’t fully satisfied. So that’s where I’m at now.

@I’ll be happy s getting RFE instead of Nœud is a good sign, and sometimes they issue it to justify the long processing time as per Lawyer Moumita Rahman. Now for the Bonafide use a very detailed personal statement about your entire relationship ; from the beginning until the end. Emphasize on your daily life & routine at home during the marriage.
