My pd is 09/01/2021 and case is current and it is at NBC. I had an inquiry and today I received an email and it says USCIS records indicate that your application is currently pending, as the priority date for your immigrant visa number has retrogressed and is not available at this time. Therefore, you are not eligible to become a permanent resident at this time. Your application will be held in abeyance until a visa number becomes available to you.
I don’t understand why DHS officer said that my case is retrogressed. My case is current and visa number is available.

may be try congressional inquiry, tell your senator PD is current and looks like USCIS is making technical error by saying your PD is not current.

I did inquiry with senator and got response from uscis and it syas processing at normal time.
I had contacted congressman but hasn’t received privacy release from.

Someone with PD October 2021 just got approved recently and posted here. I don’t think they use all of visa numbers for this current year yet.

Same thing happened to me. I had interview back in December, the officer said everything was fine and she was going to see if there was a visa number available for us. On the same day my status changed to CRP. Last week talking to an agent through Emma I found out my case went back to NBC because my date retrogressed. I am so confused, I told the agent my date is current and he didn't know what to say. The officer who interviewed me sent the case to NBC on the same day I did the interview, it just don't make any sense.
