Renewing passport while I485 is in process?
Has anybody had any experience renewing their original country’s Passport while AOS is in process? Does it affect the application? I’m from India and my passport expires Aug 2022. #passport

I sent mine in for an update back in March 2021 and just received the updated one last week. It’s taking long. I submitted multiple inquiries, but they don’t care. They will take their sweet old time. Seems like you have some time before your 485 interview, so why not update it?!?!?

did you do it in tat Kal or regular processing ? I have to change my legal name , shall I do it or wait ? I submitted ir1 on august 23

I marked Tatkal and they crossed it out and changed it to regular. I guess they realized it wasn’t an emergency even though I told them that I have my green card interview coming up. They didn’t care! Decision is yours….I just gave you a timeline of my processing.

that’s sad , I got my passport renewed in 5 days back in 2018 in tatkal but it’s not the same world, I guess . good I read the comments here I can make a decision accordingly.
