I did so while pending HB renewal so I don’t see why not. your official receipts should be enough.

@S M in Texas you can renew with your i485 receipt notice(and of course the required proof of address and maybe ssc)

@M P M how sure are you? From my findings it seems it's up to officer's discretion as some cities DPS don't renew until you have valid EAD
