Relocating to another state while greencard application is pending
My wife got a job offer in another state and she is really into us relocating. The problem is that we have a pending greencard card case awaiting adjudication 10months after the interview. Has anyone been in similar situation? What will happen to our case if we relocate?

hello Nuno, congratulations to your wife on the new job! if you change addresses you should notify USCIS ASAP. in theory, the change of addresses shouldn't affect your case much or at all, depending on where you are relocating to. your case might get some delays if you have not gotten the interview yet, if you need to pass one before USCIS makes any decisions on your case. in that instance, the delay could be due to moving your interview to a different center, or all your case as a matter of fact. but in any case, if you change addresses, then you need to update it with USCIS as soon as possible. if you have a lawyer and you signed the G-28 form so they'd receive your stuffs as well, then it won't be as bad. but even in that case you still need to let USCIS know of the new address. even if they send your stuffs to your lawyer because some stuffs they send to both you and your lawyer's office. πŸ™‚

@Lilo Pelekai Thank you so much for your elaborate answer! we have had our interview about 10months ago and have been awaiting the decision. In this case, will they need to give us another interview or just decide on the case despite the change of location?

Nuno - you're very welcome.πŸ™‚ I don't think they'll ask for another one, unless they see the need for a second one. if they have all that they need, then you're only waiting for a decision now. you should update your address as soon as possible so that you continue to receive everything that they send you, else it will continue to be sent to the old address and then be returned to USCIS because no one to get them. it's not fun to have to have those documents sent again. it happened to me once and at the time it was easier to get them on the phone. now, not so much. so, it's imperative that you change your address as soon as possible. πŸ™‚ the other solution is your wife moves and you stay behind until you receive your documents, and then move afterward and change your address at that time. this comes with its fair of ups and downs too, and you should discuss that with your wife. πŸ™‚ but a change of addresses in your situation shouldn't affect your case, or not much if at all.

C C - lawyers can be infuriating too. that's why even though I have one, I do my own research too, and make sure they're up to date with my case. πŸ˜‚
