did your lawyer add the $300 asylum fee?

@Ting Song, This is an undesired news. If you are sure that your lawyer sent in the correct fee, then it is obviously a USCIS mistake. Just resend it back with detailed explanations. BTW, what did your lawyer say about this? Also, I have the following questions: when was your application delivered to USCIS? How long did it take for you to receive your application back due to the presumed wrong fee? Was this sent to Texas lockbox? Just trying to learn and infer from your experience. Thanks.

I just found out about the 300 asylum fee that my lawyer did not include. They will resend my case again with the additional fee.

it’s about 1.5 week until I get the rejection notice in the mail. it’s sent to Arizona

@Ting Song most people don’t know about the right fees, as USCIS really messed things up. just add the asylum fee and refile.

Your lawyer sucks, man. The underpaid paralegals usually handle this part, I would double check the petition before sending it again.

@Ting Song, thanks for the feedback. Just wondering how come it took 1.5weeks for USCIS to review and return an application with the wrong fee. I have been waiting for 3weeks+ for a receipt notice for i485 but nothing yet.@Ashleigh Brands, @T. G., any thoughts on this? Is i140 receipt faster than that of i485?

I did premium processing so they should give me a notice within 2 weeks. They issued the rejection notice 4 business days after they received my application but it takes a week for the mail to arrive with USPS. Somehow I never received any email notification. Did you receive any email notification?

@Rijo Rijo it takes between 3-6 weeks for 485.

@Ting Song, I see. It makes sense that premium processing played a part. I wouldn't be receiving any electronic notifications as I missed out including that in my application......just checking to see when my check is cashed.

@T. G., makes sense. Given the high application received during the end of March to avoid fee increase, it might even take longer. Fingers crossed!

@J B there is a checkbox on I 140 part 1, asking you if you are small employer with 25 employees or less. you need to select yes

@J B yes - you need to select you are with 25 employers or less. Otherwise they will think you need to pay 600 instead of 300
