you have to go to the social security office near you with the EAD and fill out a form on line or at the SS office

we checked the box to create one automatically but applied for one separately. when applied they had nothing in the system that one was going to be created.thst was 7 days after ead came in the mail @Julie Leach

If you checked off the box on your EAD application, you should be receiving your SSN soon. If you do not receive it in 2 weeks, you can go to your local social security office and apply for it.

@Julie Leach Same! Altho I checked the box on my application, I didn’t receive SSN. It’s been 2 weeks since I received my EAD. Went to the administration today, same as @g p there was no record that one was being created for me. So I applied online, they said it will take 1 - 2 weeks to be mailed.

@Denise K that’s a bit annoying... I’ve a job lined up and they’re waiting for me to start training but I absolutely can’t without an SSN as they need to run background checks first. I might try calling the social on Monday to see if they have any info. @Jessica V I wonder is it 2 weeks after they approve your EAD, or 2 weeks after you receive your EAD card. It’s definitely been 2 weeks since I got approved.

@Julie Leach just go to the office and apply on Monday. ours took 2 weeks to come after the applying.
