How the receipt block works?
Hi everyone,
I have noticed that some people track their case using the receipt block (not the receipt number). Could someone please explain how that works? Thank you in advance.

there are some online trackers that allow you to see which receipt blocks were updated on a given day/week. Some people find it useful to estimate how many applications are ahead of theirs

@Ale Cantu thank for your explanation :) I have tried to track mine on Case Status Ext, but the information is a little bit confusing for me.

@Ale Cantu how do they count applications ahead of them when the applications are not processed in order? also how much time does it take to get through a particular block?

@Hope C it’s confusing for me too!

@waiting 4gc I’m no expert, but I think there’s little to no logic behind which cases are being analyzed by uscis other than pd or final action date. Many of these tracking resources are there to try to predict a trend, which may be unpredictable given there’s no logic!

the more you try to understand. the more you get lost. the only people at peace are the ones who are not doing any tracking etc

no one know the category EB1 or EB5 and pd for any of the receipt numbers or blocks. Thus it is very difficult or should rather say if no use to project based on it. My 2 cents.

makes sense. does knowing pd or category even matter? its not like they are going to process any specific category or pd in sequence.
