I have my driving license with real ID in Texas, one time made new and second time I changed address. it does very quick to me

it depends on the state. they (DMV) will check your status with USCIS and then issue real ID. it takes 2-3 weeks. then you are eligible to get a new ID

In California you don’t get the actual real id till you get your permanent resident card they upgrade your real id on it they say you can’t work or vote with and it has your uscis number on it.
