Rant - Feeling Hopeless
Hi all. Need to vent. If anyone has any advice or can share their thoughts, please do.
I submitted my i-485 and EAD (i-765) and my husband's i-485 in March 24th, 2025, based on an approved EB1A (approved in February). I'm ROW and even though my PD was always current for EB1, I used a PD from an approved NIW (February 2024), since we use the oldest PD - not sure if this information is relevant, but just in case.
So not only has our green card not been approved yet, but my EAD still hasn't. I'm nervous because my STEM OPT ends in January and I'm not sure what to do.
I've seen plenty of posts and comments, here and on Reddit, of people who applied in June, July, and even August, who got their green cards approved. I've also seen even more posts and comments of people who got their EAD days or weeks within submitting their application.
Last API update for both our i-485s was August 28th. My EAD was last updated May 30th (technically June 9th, but only because of an address change).
Does anyone have any insight? Advice or suggestions?
I don't want any gap in employment, not only because I cannot afford it, but the annual bonus that will be distributed in February is contingent on continued employment on the day of distribution. Also, if I lose my job, who knows if they'll keep it open for me.
For my EAD, it seems it's "within normal processing times" so I cannot submit an inquiry.
Thanks, :(

submit an expedite request for EAD

this process is frustrating to say the least, i have been waiting since Jan 2025 with current PD the entire time. Got EAD end of May. do submit the e-request inquiry for EAD to see if that moves things along as well as senator inquiry won’t hurt
D 3Oct 2, 2025
@Joseph Climber unfortunately my lawyer said it usually doesn't work.

@Ashley M my EAD application is processing under normal times and I can't submit an inquiry until the end of November, :(

1. call them.
2. submit expedite request. e.g. the reason could be that you got a new job offer and it’s for the benefit of that American business to have you (submit some proof). you don’t have to actually get employed be that company.
3. i somewhat suspect that you might have never got a biometric appointment. if so, bother them. it’s been an issue lately that some people “get” appointment but not being notified about it by uscis, so they have no idea that the appointment is scheduled. and uscis thinks that the appointment has been missed, stops processing and might even deny the case. some of my friends were in similar situation, they also filed in March 2025. only after they inquired as to why they didn’t have a biometric appointment, they learned about that. they got their EAD and greencards within a month since the new biometric appointment

@D 3 I know people who got success with expedite processing of EAD even when they were told the same thing. see my prev comment above, item 2. if you can show some proof that you need it to be expedited because its of benefit to American business (it’s just an example), it will be expedited
D 3Oct 2, 2025
@Gary Roh how do I call them? I didn't know I could since everyone would start calling them.
D 3Oct 2, 2025
@Alice h We did biometrics on April 17th, :(

my situation is pretty close to you. EB1-b, RD Apr 17th 2025, PD Mar 2023 and always been current. no Ead no AP no GC Ofcourse
M IOct 2, 2025
@D 3 are you tracking api changes? have you learned if your AoS moved to a FO yet?
yolo 1Oct 3, 2025
I am pending since Feb 2025. eb1. no ead either
D 3Oct 3, 2025
@M I what current work authorization do you currently have, if I may ask? What are you plans if you don't get an approval within the next few months?
D 3Oct 3, 2025
@kk ll sorry to hear that. May I ask what work authorization do you have currently and if it's expiring soon? I'm asking to see what my options can be by seeing what other people are doing.

hi @D 3 I'm on a work visa which is good into 2026. but def worried. no clear options
M IOct 3, 2025
@D 3 I’m on H1b. I’d say your best bet is the O1 visa, is that something you considered?
M IOct 3, 2025
@kk ll have you tired submitting a service request for your ead
Alice hOct 3, 2025
@D 3 it’s great that biometrics was completed already! so start bothering them. call, ask to place service request, place expedite request if able to justify it. bothering is great option. so often they forget about the case due to some system glitch and unless you bother, it can took them forever to realize it. it happed to me before, I pretty much sure they lost my case but never directly admitted it, and only me bothering them helped

I submitted in the same category in July 11 2025, I-140 and i-485 still pending, but i-765 we got approved in Sep 30. Thanks God!!!
The case just move after expedite request.
Your case is completely out of the regular processing time. Here is what you do:
1- Go on chat gpt, describe the entire situation and ask him to prepare a expedite request letter, under humanity ground or several loss, I'd use the first one. Edit the documente generated by chat gpt, add all of your information, like receipt number etc.
2 - Go to USCIS on-line account, under the i-765, upload that document from chat got under the section - "non solicited evidence"
3- Go to your USCIS online account, section inbox, new message, go under the receipt for the i-765( is the only one of the three that accepte expedite request). Select expedite request.
4 - very important do the step 2 before the step 3.
You'll probably get your EAD approved in less than 15 days.
I did that, and works, and my entire petition was filled just in July 2025. you'll get approved in less on the EAD in less than 15 day. trust me, I did that. you are in a worse situation.
After doing that, come back here a let everyone know if worked well for you.
thanks
