@H 11 ughh the email I put on file was my old school email that got deactivated a couple of months ago. I won’t be receiving a physical form of it to my mailing address?

you should be able to log in to uscis and update your email address

Someone told me that we'll receive a physical mail after 3 weeks of approval, the case on uscis account is closed now so you won't receive anything there, you'll be notified by e-mail when NVC creates your visa case on their system

You will receive an email and in some cases a physical letter as well, but the letter won’t be as fast as the email and that could mean you are going to have to wait longer to move to the next step. I got my email the same day my case was sent to (Department of State) NVC.

@scooby diva43 I have changed the email on the uscis website. but on the actual I-130 documents it has my former email which all updates have been going to there.

@Fatima A What done is done, but why would you change an email? If updates were going to the old email then obviously USCIS didn't update their system. Guided luck!

@William u when me and my lawyer filled out the I-130 documents I wrote down my former email which was my school email. After we submitted the documents I remembered how schools usually deactivate students emails once they have graduated. Once I remembered this I changed the email I used to log in my USCIS account to my personal email. Next thing I knew my student email was deactivated. Since i never got emails that my case was approved that means it was sent to the email that I wrote down on the I-130 documents not the email I used for the online uscis website. So Uscis sends all emails to the emails you put down on the actual application. I’ve had my school email for 7 years after I graduated. I didn’t think it would have deactivated after all this time 🥲 but my lawyer said she will recive the nvc welcome letter anyways and I can change the email once I make an account. if I still had my email I would receive the letter sooner then her. i guess it was bound to have a mistake somewhere in the process 😏

@Fatima A Good thing additional emails were added to your application (attorney), when it comes to important things like this it's always best to use personal emails and not school or work.

yes please contact NVC asap. My case was sent to them on 1/22/24 and I am hoping to get an email this week. hopefully the timeframe will pass my date.

@H 11 both upload them and take them when it's time for your interview as you never know what they will ask you for.

@Fatima A when i cousin couldn't locate his welcome letter he sent and email asknvc@state.gov requesting them to send it back they did see if you can send them an email with the requesting it.
