that could be true because you cannot apply for fasfa with work permit. I’m in college and they didn’t even want to approve it with prima facie I had to go to many different people in college to help me and finally they accepted it. I have 3 more semesters to go and I summitted vawa in April 2022 so we will see what happens.

@m s almost all accept if you have prima facie but some you have to show them the law, your papers and let them know

I am currently using my prima face, it is a federal thing so all schools should accept it. They just sometimes do not know the law. In my case I told them this: “ I am an eligible non citizen for FAFSA due to my ‘prima face determination’ document. For reference please see point 4 of the studentaid.gov/understand-aid/eligibility/requirements/non-us-citizens#other-documents- (Specifically fsapartners.ed.gov/sites/default/files/attachments/dpcletters/GEN1007.pdf) Additionally the guideline in page 1-50 and 1-51 of the document fsapartners.ed.gov/sites/default/files/2021-03/2021FSAHbkVol1Ch2.pdf “

simple answer, if your primafacie is not expired, the school will accept. They don’t accept approved i360, that means nothing to them.

when you do fafsa application they ask for ssn. I am not sure how it work if you don’t have. — that been said, the prima face is totally independent of fafsa and ssn. I would recommend you to see if you can fill fafsa if you don’t have ssn.

also please know that school do accept approved i360. it is 100% usable. but not the actual card but the “vawa approval of a petition” (the form I-797). here the link that you can show the university/school person to refer to the section “Battered or Abused Spouses or Children-Qualified Noncitizens” where it says “..Either a Form I-360 approval or a prima facie finding potentially makes a student eligible for Title IV aid…With an approval of a petition, the USCIS will provide a Form I-797, which will indicate it is an approval notice”, all is on the webpage https://fsapartners.ed.gov/knowledge-center/fsa-handbook/2024-2025/vol1/ch2-us-citizenship-eligible-noncitizens#:~:text=Battered%20or%20Abused%20Spouses%20or,benefits%2C%20including%20federal%20student%20aid

The college/university accepts either a prima facie determination and/or an I-360 approval notice. If they do not, please refer them to the link and PDF regarding Title IV aid from the official FAFSA website, and share it with the school's financial aid office.

okay I have prima facie since Feb waiting for work permit,my question is what does prima facie good for I have not use it at all I’m in Texas,I seen here some people have it some don’t and why ?
