question
hey guys so I’ve booked a return flight from Aus to Texas in July, I’m going over for 2 months to see family and spend time with the wife and kids over summer break etc, I’m wondering though, if our i130 is approved before the trip over will they give me a hard time at the airport knowing that the i130 has been approved etc?

they could ask more questions, it always depends on the officer. Definitely have a return ticket! I would also bring a copy of the job contract, maybe insurances you still have, the lease contract if you have one and/or other proof that you have strong ties to your home country still!

it's not because your i-130 is approved that the process is over so if you got your embassy appointment, I'd say print a copy of your interview date and say you have to return anyway

@B G with the way things are going I doubt I’ll have an interview date by then, australia is really slow at the moment

have all your documents to prove that you are in the process, but I went to USA during the process and they never ask me anything about it.

@Jacob Needham My husband and I are thinking about doing this same thing after the I130 is approved in about 2 months. I am a teacher, so I have to find a new job for August. If he doesn’t have his embassy appointment by August he will just come with me on his visitor visa for a month or two and then return for his appt. Just be prepared for more questions and proof that you are returning. I have stayed here in Honduras during the I130 process so we would not be separated, but I need to reestablish domicile. Many people traveled on Visitor Visas without issue.
