Public Charge H4 EAD
Can anyone tell me if my wife who is on H4 EAD had availed unemployment insurance in California back in 2020 and in 2023 during a layoff, would it affect I-485 approval? I don’t see this anywhere as a public charge.

if you read the public charge section of the form i485, you will see that most (if not all) of us who apply for EB GC are not eligible for any of the benefits written in that section. Therefore, I am sure your wife having been on unemployment insurance isn't considered as a public charge.

Getting unemployment is not subject to public charge. SNAP/TANF/Food stamps these are examples of public charge
