“Processing” status in I-485 Case trackers
There are several statuses such as
- Approved
- Denied
- Fingerprint scheduled
- Interview scheduled
- Processing
- Received
- Rejected
- RFE
- Terminated
- Withdrawal
What does Processing status mean?
How does the status change in a regular timeline that leads to Approved?

it means "don't bother asking us. it's somewhere in the system but we don't know where."

I think when the officer is actively reviewing your case , your case status shows ‘ your case is actively being reviewed’
and then the next state is update is either approved or denied or RFE
