prima facie
I would like to know how I can use prima facie evidence to obtain public benefits. I am looking for a low-cost apartment but I have no idea how to apply for it.

Don't you have a work permit to get a job and pay for your apartment? These documents are given by USCIS to be used as last minute option. I would advise that you get yourself a job because it is not too good for your record to start living on welfare when your case is being processed. Just a friendly advice.

@Allon God stop judging ppl. they said low cost, not free. there are subsidized homes based on individual income. keep in mind VAWA is here for the abused, you don’t know this persons situation. not everyone can afford the deposits etc. and furthermore a lot of ppl come here and even with a job and inflation due to various factors including education do not making a reasonable living wage. there are also ppl here who are highly educated and still are having difficulty getting hired. please be compassionate before dictating what you think someone should be doing without knowing their story or situation

@Jhon mateo look at the rules for Prima Facie in your state most public benefits are not accessible to you unless you’ve been here for a number of years and Prima Facie is basically useless in regards to benefits

@Jhon mateo @Allon God he is right to advice you to stay clear of public benefits as this administration might bring back an income threshold policy they had the first time as a requirement to adjust your status. Pls be very careful. Secondly you don’t need PF to get houses that are income based as there are lots of apartments that you can get base on your income which is spread across every city in the US. People can call others mean for giving you credible advice but they won’t be there to go through the impact it would have on you as regards to your process. There are so many options out for now like having a room mate to share an apartment together or better yet see how you can increase your income by doing side gigs such as deliveries. Pls be very careful as this administration will do anything with policies to scuttle your process. One last advice, look for direct landlords to rent from that can work with you if you fall back. It’s always advisable to rent from direct landlords so you don’t get a hit on your credit profile and an eviction when your income is not certain and enough.
