hey @roro April 2022 my husband is a U.S. citizen. he filed for me in April I got my ead in may. I sent his W2s in but he filed as head of household since I didn’t have a SSN. Do you know if that will be an issue?

@shannell B no that’s won’t be an issue for right now but make sure from now until the citizenship to file your taxes together.. we married since 2020 my husband used to file his taxes as single since that time until I received my SSN back on sep/2022 and we submitted his taxes and W2s for my process and I got approved just a week ago .. they understand that you can’t file jointly since you don’t have your SSN during the filing time

@Da al ombudsman were more help than the congressman but you can use all of them to put pressure on them to take a decision on your case

when you applied form I-130, which service center had your application? mine is in Potomac Service Center and I heard it takes longer than other service centers which is really unfortunate 😫

what documentation do you provide to the obusman ?

@September P22 my I-130 was at NBC and I applied on Oct/2021 .. Potomac slow but you can speed up your process through expedite request due to humanitarian reasons and financial loss for individual .. you can also send out of normal processing times service request even if you still within the normal processing times just to have them look into your application

@N/ A pending applications notices , any crosspondes with uscis ( emails , service requests, screenshots for Emma chat ) , screenshots for the last update on your online account and if you used a congressman help you need to provide their response.. that’s all but make sure to write a small comment about your situation

@September P22 you shouldn’t be worried at all .. they told me this 45 days before I received my decision.. sometimes the handler officer should get back to the supervisor before give a decision

@September P22 my husband is a u.s citizen and it took me 21 months since filing to decision maybe u will get your approval very fast from uscis and wait Long at nvc stage until your pd become current

@September P22 no if you checked the box that the spouse would like to continue the process within the usa .. did you only apply for I-130 ? and no it’s not silly because uscis did a lot of mistakes about this so it’s better to know

you really don't need SSN or green card to apply for credit cards or maybe it's depends on the bank. My credit line is already 9k+ and just got approved yesterday for i485.

@folz awesome yes to apply most banks and credit lenders will ask for ssn in order to report to the credit bureau … if you don’t wish to report it and build credit history there is some banks don’t ask for ssn .. but if you want to finance a car or get mortgage and personal loan you need to use the credit report to get it as low APR as you can

I have a lawyer I tell her I was going to send a letter regarding my I-485 she said to wait until September that would be my 2 anniversary

@September P22 I believe your spouse was out of the status when you applied.. if the spouse was still within the status then you should filed the I-485 too .. now you will need to get your I-130 approved and then wait for your pd to become current in order to submit the I-485 .. this is what I know about your situation my friend 😊 I wish u a good luck and hopefully by the time the I-130 approved your pd become current

@lisa h in this case I’ll recommend you to wait until sep which is one month and Half from now it’s better to get the 10 years green card and not to deal with removal conditions in future it worth the wait

@Empress H forget about the senator, the congressman help much butter in your situation senators don’t have a facility to follow up with the federal agencies but Congressman have one so try your luck with them then if not seek the White House help

Hi Roro, I would like to expedite my ead but I’m not so sure how to go about it. I tried Emma chat, the agent told me it’s processing normally and I should wait for the decision from the office, I’ve inquired the congressmen office and still waiting to hear from them. Its been 9 months without an ead or ssn, I’m not sure how long more.. 😔

@bj bj thank you 😊 and yes I received all my notices by mail and on the online account too call the contact center tomorrow and ask them to email and mail the online account access.. it’s more helpful to reach them over the phone you can get an agent over the phone by saying lost receipt number

@roro April 2022 I am a widow to US citizen and currently waiting on I-360, I-485, & I-765. I would like to file expedited request based on my personal financial hardship knowing I have two kids who are minor US citizens. Do you think I can file expedited request it’s going to be my 7th month since I submitted my applications to USCIS. I already have my I-130 approved since last year because I field solo. my I-485 was filed in May 2022 and received an i-693 Rfe on April which I respond in the same months. until now nothing. 413 days still nothing. can I contact the obusman now?

@Rona S thank you so much 😊 since you have approved I-130 you can contact the ombudsman office to get a case assistance through them I believe it will be easier for you to go this route and you might be approved within 2-3 weeks after contacting them my case was at my fo then they transferred it to the NBC 45 days before my approval this is a good sign if you want my recommendation wait for another 2 weeks if you haven’t heard anything then contact the ombudsman office

@N/ A you can contact them now and please upload your I-130 approval notice I’m sure they will get u the decision in 2-3 weeks after having the approved I-130 make everything easier trust me and go ahead and ask for case assistance through the ombudsman ASAP

even if the case is not outside normal processing time I can still do it? mine will be outside normal processing time next month

@roro April 2022 any idea about i824 form transfer to nvc. was filed on June 27th 2022. got stocked at NBC until January then they transferred it to Potomac on January 17th, since then no update. tried many ways to move it but with no luck. had a call from an officer about three months ago he stated that my case will be reviewed soon but still nothing. any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏

@fk fj your last option now to write a letter to Potomac service center explaining your situation and the need for I-824 approval ASAP.. if you can provide financial hardship proofs include it on the same package

I love what you’re doing. question.. my PD is Aug 1, 2022 I filed concurrently and my case is at NBC upon filing I submitted my medical bring that it’s almost a year do you think I will have to redo the medical? NB: I received my EAD June 14th and Emma says my case was last reviewed June 27th.

@Mparmar Parmar http://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative put your zip code here and find your local congressman when you find him/her you can google his/her website and submit online form for a help with federal agency or immigration issues wait for their email and you can send any evidence you think it will help support or help request the request should be under your husband name since he’s the applicant

Hi and congrats!! I currently filed i-130 and i-485 11months ago, and i-130 is still pending / i-485 received RFE for birth certificate and I replied 5months ago. I am looking for ways to expedite the case and saw the congressmen option which I will try after doing it myself first. is there any tips reaching out a congressmen? is it just sending a letter explaining the situatiin enough or do I have to send a letter with the supporting evidence to them as well? and I ammarried to the USC as well

@Roy Lee thank you so much 😊 it’s always better to send the letter with the supporting documents this is will help you save more time than wait for any supporting documents requests.. you can try to expedite through the congressman but you need to have a strong reason for example you can’t travel to your home country by using the AP because they won’t allow you to return back to USA by using it or for school admission reasons or for financial hardship or anything humanitarian you think your request will fall under it .. you can try this first then if doesn’t work you can ask the ombudsman office for a case assistance

@terr ter most likely you will be scheduled for interview if the case transferred to the filed office mine was the opposite.. my case was at the FO .. received RFE from FO on 02/13/2023 mailed it to the Fo on 02/20/2023 status updated on 05/26/2023 to RFE response received.. regarding to the uscis agent my case was transferred to nbc on June/20/2023 and I got approved on 07/04/2023

@roro April 2022: We filed 130 & 485 concurrently on May 06 2022, we just got an approval for the 130 today. When can we expect the 485 to be approved. Our case was moved to the NYC Field Office a few months back. Husband previously filled for asylum (589) in August of 2016. He hasn’t gotten any response to that yet, not even an interview update. He’s Nigerian.
