no difference, 130 is to establish that your marriage is real. when you pass it, then you are qualified for 485 which is change of status.

i485 I heard is security and admissibility, criminal background.. basically background.. idk

1485 is change of status, the things listed are just background check to make sure the wrong person is not giving United state citizenship

if you filed i-130 and i-485 separately most likely you will have 2 interviews.

so they both different .. i130 is relationship and i485 is background?

there is no interview for I-130.
this process is a petition for alien relative, so basically for you to ask for family sponsoring for your family members (usually wife and children if you are a green card holder)
you will be required to describe and give proof of your family relationship with the form.
you could be asked by mail for more evidences if the ones you gave are not good enough or not accurate enough but you won’t have any interview.
you are the petionner and your family members are the beneficiaries.
When I-130 is accepted, then your family members (if they are already in USA) have to apply for the I-485 which is to register permanent resident or adjust Status, basically it is to ask to create their green card or to convert their existing non-permanent visas to green card (which is the lawful permanent visa)
during this process, your family members will have to go through few steps, the mandatories most important ones are :
- biometrics (basically records of their finger prints and face photos)
- medical examination (basically a physical control by an authorized Doctor of your health and vaccines records to make sure you don’t bring any contagious diseases) for what I understand these doctor records stay confidential and should not be shared with anybody else than USCIS officials. .
- finally the interview you were talking about. this is usually the last step when your family members and potentially yourself will have to face an USCIS officer who will just control that they are real people and that they match with everything described in the files provided.
the goal of this interview is to make make sure there is no irregularity between the elements you and your family provided and the truth.
lot of people are stressed about this interview.
Even if it can last long, there are a lot of standard questions that the officier have to ask you verbally but it is usually very simple and straight forward. the officier will also go through your life events to verify the veracity of your relationship.
this is not questions like you are guilty of anything you did wrong, … unless you lied.
So my advice : never lied to USCIS, everything can be e planned or if you do, you will be very deeply interrogated and might be rejected.
good luck everybody and be patient, USCIS has not the reputation to be a fast track system !!!

@ Namtarn sar l saw it on Monday in my uscis account that they’ve scheduled interview on that form but yet still l have not received it in my mail..and my lawyer has not yet received it to..I’m worried about it why they schedule our interview on that form

how come some people get i130 interview alone. and if that’s the case what will the i485 alone will be like @namtarn.. many applicants are saying their i485 and i130 were both different. 130 - relationship questions
i485- security questions
John 6GXXL39 CenaOct 28, 2022
@baltimore, you might proof your relationship(spouse, son, daughter) but you might be bad person who does not deserve to be greened. thats why you have security questions. sometimes they do both forms at the same time, sometimes separately.

my bad if interview exits for I-130, I personally never heard about it and I did sponsor my daughter first and my wife few year later. we learn every day don’t we
Baltimore 410Oct 28, 2022
which state are you at @Nam sar
Namtarn SarOct 28, 2022
@Baltimore and @johnny depp, the petitioner can’t be a « bad person » to say without justice proof since he is either USA citizen or lawful permanent resident. I don’t think anybody non-permanent can sponsor.
it seems weird to me that the petionner get interviewed alone, usually USCIS has already a file about him but after all, why not if this file is old or unclear.
Now, USCIS might want to interview the beneficiaries but the I-130 process could be done to sponsor people who are on USA soil or still living in foreign country.
that means embassy would have to organise beneficiary I tervuew. I also never heard of anything like that but once again why not.

the state you are living in should not influence a federal immigration law, shouldn’t it ?
