Petition Upgrade to reflect Citizenship Status
9 months since I became a U.S Citizen and I’ve been trying to upgrade my husband’s I-130 petition. I’ve applied to him in December 2024 when I was just a Green Card holder and August 2025 I became a citizen and been trying to upgrade the petition. 3 inquiry’s, asked for congressman and senator’s help, this morning I did another inquiry and I filled for ombudsman and 2 hours later they sent me a letter on the portal/chat saying: “your petition has been upgraded”.

That’s great news! Once USCIS upgrades the I-130 from the F2A category to immediate relative based on your U.S. citizenship, it removes the visa bulletin wait issue entirely. It’s frustrating that it took so many follow-ups, but at least it sounds like the upgrade was finally processed.
