Stuck in limbo

PD March 27,2023 I-140 Approved in October 2024
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for expert opinions or personal experiences regarding my EB-3 Unskilled case.
• Priority Date: March 27, 2023
• Category: EB-3 Unskilled (Other Workers)
• Status: Currently in the U.S. on F-1, but maintaining status is becoming difficult.
My questions:
1. When do you think a PD of March 27, 2023 might become current under EB-3 Unskilled, realistically? Any estimates based on current retrogression patterns?
2. Because staying on F-1 is becoming challenging, would it be better to go back to my home country and continue through consular processing?
• Has anyone here moved back and successfully continued their EB-3 process from abroad?
• What should I expect in terms of delays or complications?
3. How does the “75 countries visa processing pause” affect consular cases?
• If I move back, would this delay things further?
• How long could this pause last based on past patterns?
I would really appreciate advice from people who:
• have a similar EB-3 unskilled PD and are watching movement
• switched from adjustment of status to consular processing
• or understand how current consular slowdowns / pauses can affect timelines
Any suggestions on what I should do in my situation would be extremely helpful.
Thank you!

same pattern as you mine it’s April 2023 with 1-40 approved as well , I’m under the program of h2b right now. not sure how faster the process will be moving at this point.. we just have to wait and be patient I guess

Its better to stay within US to process your case as it might be faster than consular processing. My PD is March 2023 as well and i am hoping to file by the end of 2026 or mid 2027, we just need the filing date to be current atleast. From what i have heard, visa ban is for consular processing and not AOS which might make the process within US faster but that’s just a speculation.

no filing or whatsoever after pd April 2022, but I’m not sure USCIS will move ahead and progress the filing date in big increments

There was a 6 month jump in date of filing. Hopefully it catches up to your date but please keep in mind that there are significant number of cases from 2022 especially after the month of April. might take another year for you to be able to file. it is better to do it from the US as process outside the US has been risky.
