Parents Marriage Certificate Lost
I'm petitioning my dad for green card. My dad lives in Pakistan. USCIS requires marriage certificate (Nikah Nama) of my dad along with the application. My dad lives in Pakistan and he has tried best to find a copy from the mosque where the marriage was registered but the record has been lost. Also, he cannot get a copy from union council (UC) because back in 1975 when he was married, UCs didn't exist. Please share any kind of guidance.

I think what USCIS needs most is your relationship with your dad and your birth certificate should suffice. However, for the marriage certificate he can get an affidavit or any other secondary document that can show the marriage

Thank you so much for your reply! I’m currently trying to get an affidavit from local authorities for non-availability of the marriage certificate.

Thank you so much! FRC can act as a secondary evidence because USCIS requires an affidavit for non availability of the document as the primary evidence if original is unavailable. I’m currently trying to get the union council to issue it.
