Open Suggestions
Hi all, i have a pending 485/765 eb3. Case in TSC, filed in June'21. My current employer was was nice enough for filing my GC and I really owe them a lot for it. But I feel like they are taking advantage of not paying me to my potential. I am good at what I do and certainly confident I can find jobs with much higher pay if I want to. But I don't want to go through the hassle of 485j and also transfer h1b. I am asking for suggestions from this community. What do you guys think I should do? I have been patient for the last 3years (thats how long it took since they started my GC process). But with current rate of inflation I am having a hard time financially keeping up. It hurts even more knowing there are so many opportunities out there. FYI No movement in any of my case since filing.

I'd advise you as HR Professional. stick with this employer for a long haul. Are there chances of promotion and potential pay raise? Scarcely could you find employers that would stick their neck for GC for employees in America. take my words for it, you're in a good hand. I'm not ruling out future move but I'm just saying you should stay for some time then you can initiate a move for a higher pay and more

Appreciate it. Yes they increased my pay over the years a few times but they do not reflect anywhere near what the current market is like. anyways, I owe them a lot for everything. I really do and they know it too.

Good. Just stick around for some time then approach your line manager in consonance with HR for pay increase. if they decline your request, then you have valid ground to jump ship. again, stick around for some time to show your depth of gratitude

Same thing happened to me, I realized I’m getting paid much lower than my peers who were new hires. I was so conflicted that time if I should do an H1B transfer or stick with the current employer who’s clearly overworking and underpaying me. I decided to set up a meeting with the CEO, HR and Hospital director to formally discuss about my rate and job description. I brought with me my performance evaluation, time cards and I research rates of my degree and experience in the city I’m working. Thankfully, the month after they adjusted my rate and asked me to plot my schedule I’m most comfortable working. There’s no harm taking a leap and being honest to what you think you deserve. All the best for you.

Mich Nicole, you acted very professionally and I must add, bravely. that is just the way to go. seek audience with the major decision makers within the organization to discuss your predicaments and see what they have to say. if they act in your favour, you get your pay raise and other fringe benefits. otherwise, you begin to work on your exit strategy. no more, no less

Mich and RB, thank you both for you suggestions. I was going through a lot of doubts and wasn't sure what to do. Needed advice/opinion from someone else. You both provided the best suggestions I can ask for. Thanks again.
