hi Larra MSC cases are mailed. and IOE cases are done online and are faster. Mine was done with lawyer and all my receipts start with IOE and I got approved for EAD in 41 days day after biometrics.

I think EADs are automated if the country you’re from has security checks linked in with the US’s. my Ead was approved an hour after biometrics apt and I believe that’s because I’m from Canada or have been on 4 work visas here. there are a lot of people that wait 3-6 months for an EAD that have an IOE case #. I wish you the best of luck. do try to expedite through your congressman if you can… get a job offer.

@nancy luevano Adjusting from K1 only allows you to file via mail but most of them still get case numbers starting with IOE.

@w s I’ve seen people from my country get approved a few days after their biometrics and their case numbers start with IOE. Thank you for the insight. I tried applying for jobs but most really require a work permit.

yes @Larra Su that makes sense. the job I got with my first EAD (non work visa through non marriage based cases) was through a relationship I had and so they waited for me to get my permit. not sure what line of work you’re in but sometimes if you’re the best person for the job you can ask them to stick their neck out for you. it’s tough out here for sure. go through your congress person. best way to expedite

you just have to be patient.
