Oath Ceremony #400 #751
Hey guys, I had my oath ceremony today. My day was horrible. There was a typo with my name so after the ceremony I had to take the certificate back to the field office where I had my interview then back to the courthouse for them to stamp the seal on the new certificate. Got to the field office, place was empty (no interviews today, thank God). Immigration officer came out, I explained the purpose of my visit & she took my certificate went around back & VOIDED my twin sister's citizenship without checking back with me. Her excuse, our names are similar...poor excuse. We both are married with different last names & our middle names are different. Plus we have different A numbers which was on the name change document. This lady cancelled my sister's citizenship and said she would have to come in so they can stamp the copy she has & issue a new one. This was their mistake, why should my sister miss out on a day of work when they made the mistake. Why can't this mistake be undone by the click of a button, just as easy as it was for her to void my sister's citizenship. The error on my certificate was corrected but I'm not happy.

@Jenny G, sorry you had a horrible day, but mistakes do happen... we are all human, and even machines malfunction. It would be worth it for your sister to miss a day of work than to get her citizenship canceled. It's unfortunate, but at least someone caught it, and is willing to fix it. can you imagine if the issue was discovered months or even years later? No one would have known how the error came about, especially because it was deleted from the source! Goodluck with the fix.

MC Caulay thanks for that. I know mistakes happens but this lady should learn the concept of "measure twice, cut once." While I was there another person arrived to have a typo on his certificate corrected and the same lady tore up a document the man gave her. He asked her for his document but she could not provide it. He was livid and rightfully so...that document may not have been important to her but it was to him, it was his document. She's not thorough

hi Flex yes it was a combo interview. my spouse was present for both. Yes, i751 was pending. No nothing was mentioned in the notice, once you have i751 pending & you get interview notice for n400 expect a combo interview. Also, tell the officer that i751 is pending if they are unaware. Did my oath ceremony a month after interview

@Jenny G what were some of the questions they asked for your i751 interview, I know you said it was a combo interview, I’m in the same boat, thanks

hey MJ ... The officer ask my spouse how we met & after it was pretty much a conversation. Then he moved on to the civics test: Which day is the last to file federal taxes? Who sign bills? Who vetoes bills? Who is the vice president? Who is the Speaker of the House? What do we pledge when we become a citizen of the US? Reading: What state has the most people? Writing: California has the most people. The officer then said congratulations you passed. Then he told me he will be recommending both cases for approval. He went back to his computer and updated my N400 which showed Oath Ceremony to be scheduled. He wanted to approve the I751 same time from his computer but couldn't (I'm guessing), he said it has to be done on a "different system," whatever that is. He handed me a letter with 'recommended for approval' checked and said I should receive the notice for Oath ceremony in 3 weeks which I did. Now I'm a citizen 🎉 Sorry for typos
