O1b case still in process, any ideas why it’s taking so long or shared experiences (going a little insane here)?
So I submitted my O1b through the California center on Aug 27 2021, and every day since I’ve stared at the “my case was received” notice and wondered how much longer I can live in this limbo.
Has anybody had the same experience with this kind of wait? Any ideas on why it could be taking so long?
My lawyer has already sent two case inquiries. I know 3 people who applied around the same time I did (one two months later, and one with the same lawyer I have) who all got denied.
With every week that goes by I’m losing my employer’s patience and with no end in sight I’m just looking for some reassurance that it hasn’t gone missing under someone’s desk or gotten lost in the void.

Hi M, I am on green card prosess now but I had my second extension about o1b last year. it took so long because of Covid I believe. I didn’t get any answer from them like 4 months and I told my lawyer that we need to ask update because in 90 days if you don’t get any answer you have right to do that’s and the next days I have got a letter of RFE. I think you should push your lawyer to get some updates. that’s all how I figured it out my case.

Hi M, my O1-B case was filed at the California Center on November 5th, 2021. My partner’s O1-B case was filed on the same day to the same office, and he has firstly received an RFE over two months ago but then got sorted out and approved over a month ago now. On the other hand, nothing has changed on my petition since November 2021. My lawyer submitted a case inquiry over 45 days ago but it still says: “Case was received”. I can see you’ve been waiting even longer and that’s very strange and concerning. I feel your frustration, and I also believe my case fell off some list or got lost. It’s so frustrating that there’s nothing we can do rather than upgrade to Premium Processing. I guess they push some applicants to the point they upgrade maybe? Or perhaps it’s just very bad management? I don’t know, and apparently nobody knows. I’m sorry you have to go through this as well but you’re not alone.
