when I got approved on my k1, I called the us embassy in my country and they told me I just need the nvc case number to start the next step because nvc letter arrived late or super late. my fiancé that time called them and ask my nvc case number. my actual nvc letter arrived by mail days before my k1 visa interview.

I didn’t filed online it was paper mailed..

what country is your embassy at? are they open to do interviews??

Nigeria yes they are open…. but when I called nvc and embassy they all are going back and forth of who suppose to do what other than sending our case file down to the Nigeria so we can do this interview

@menuka yes nvc is suppose to send your case to the embassy and then you will get a welcome letter from the embassy of schedule your interview appt. while nvc will send you a welcome letter to pay fees and and send any necessary additional documents I’d needed

oh I just called them and got my case number and he told me they will send to embassy after that..

I’m from Asia (Philippines). what I did was after I got my case number without the actual letter fill up DS-160 went to the bank pay my visa fee (keep the receipt) schedule a medical appointment and result normal after medical , file for interview before interview I got my actual NVC letter what I brought on my interview: exact copy of my fiancé documents filed on my K1 visa, copy of my Ds-160 first page ( where barcode located) after interview they ask for my passport original documents (birthcertificate, documents as proof I am single, police and National clearance) more photos just incase they ask ( my fiancé only send 3 photos) got my visa within 5 days (passport with visa sticker and K1 pocket for port of entry) note: I don’t know if it’s only in the Philippines they told me if they ask for you passport and they did not return it during interview means you passed but if they give back your passport it means denied) (sercurity personnel told me)

Our consular section is processing all categories of Immigrant Visas, including those for immediate relatives and fiancés of U.S. citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs), Returning Residents, Employment-based visas and others as capacity allows. Embassy in Nepal is processing so I might get it soon ... I hoped

You receive a welcome letter from the NVC whenever your case is sent to your embassy. You cannot start the process of anything until you receive that letter and the “ready” from the CEAC website. When it’s “ready” and at your embassy, then you can file the DS-160, pay the visa fee, and schedule your interview.

i haven’t received welcome letter but I have all the information I needed.. but I will not start working on it. thanks

You can have your case number and invoice ID, but you can’t do anything because your embassy is not ready for you and your case. But once you receive the welcome letter, it’s go time. You will receive the welcome letter by email first and then by mail.

I received my letter from the US embassy before I received my letter from the NVC so although the NVC sent my case to the embassy there was a delay in receiving my letter from NVC. i got approved 13th December and received my letter 2 weeks ago so maybe wait a little longer before calling

it has been 22 days since and I haven’t even got email from NVC. in my country Nepal they are interviewing people for k1 visa. my. friend have appointments on March 4 for interviews and she told me there so many appointments available. if there’s appointments available then nvc need to send it faster right?

I received my welcome letter after 1 months and 3 weeks (almost 2 months) after it being at the NVC. There may be appointments available in Nepal, but the NVC gets a green light from them. If they are not ready yet, you just have to be patient and wait your turn.

no is not close. I wonder if uscis tell u when they send u the letter like where u check with the recipe number?

For NVC, you have to check on the CEAC website. Once your case leaves USCIS, they have nothing to do with you.

I don’t have application ID or case number cus they haven’t send me the letter.

idk If there other way to check. your case at the nvc ??
