Before applying for VAWA, I was part of a family-based petition that was denied because my ex abandoned the case. I then hired a law firm, explained the situation, and they suggested VAWA. Now—almost three years after that family petition—I have received a Notice to Appear (NTA) and have a court hearing scheduled for September of this year. The firm handling my case is charging me an additional $12,500 because it involves court proceedings.
If any of you have gone through a similar situation, could you please recommend a fair lawyer who can help me with my court case? I received the NTA due to overstaying my visa.

Antes de solicitar la VAWA, yo formaba parte de una petición basada en la familia que fue denegada porque mi expareja abandonó el caso. Entonces contraté a un bufete de abogados, expliqué la situación y me sugirieron la VAWA. Ahora —casi tres años después de aquella petición familiar— he recibido una Notificación de Comparecencia (NTA) y tengo una audiencia judicial programada para septiembre de este año. I left my EX because of extreme abuse after I went shelter they file my Vawa, I already filed my Vawa before I will get my interview with my Ex. we didn’t appear in interview. case administratively closed. I never had receive any of this thing.

@Secret22 22 My NTA was terminated afterwards cos my old attorney did same and I had to switch to a renowned attorney very swift in everything in two weeks I didn’t even appear in court the law firm called and told me the case was terminated and sent me my letter. meanwhile the previous law firm were milking me out and also scaring me with unnecessary charges and information that will break me out but now I’m so relief 😅 all thanks to Heavenly Father.

@that applicant hello , I’m in same boat , AOS pending and issued NTA. after first master hearing , how many days court provide your second hearing to approve i130 by Uscis ?

@TOP PRIME 🙏 nice job. my attorney advice to withdraw my asylum case while pending marriage case. now I received NTA Becca’s of overstay and while AOS case pending. I attend AOS interview but yet to approved i130 . could you pleas assist me with new attorney name ? I’m in NYC.

it depends on your case but if there is adjustment pending and other forms are pending the court should let you continue your case with uscis as I got hearing on another year,as long as your NTA is not based on criminal grounds it should be straight forward and they will wait until uscis decides on your case in my opinion but consultation with attorney with immigration would be great idea too
