Not Working After getting Green Card
Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well. I wanted to ask for some information. I recently received my Green Card. I’ve been working with my company for about a year before getting my GC, but now I don’t want to work .The company has no issue with this and is willing to provide a release or reference letter. Will not working with company after GC, affect the perception of my genuine intent for obtaining the Green Card, and could it cause any problems when I apply for U.S. citizenship later? Thanks for your help.

if i were you, i’d suck it up and work for a good 6 months, then move on. I know it sucks but just to make sure you have no problem for US citizenship. Quitting right after you received the green card might look bad. Or even try 3,4 months then quit.

Congratulations 🎉🎉 They suggest to work atleast 5-6 month after you receive your greencard otherwise it might cause an issue while applying for Citizenship.

Whatever you do, is your decision If I were you, I would leave without even resigning You paid tens of thousands for that visa You slaved for a year Do not listen to agents and their friends up here telling to continue working It is not going to be a problem even if you never work for them... ask around. But if you insist, suck it up like they said and work 10 more years for them. BDV is happy

@Alex Alex not true! please don’t give false information. There is no obligation to work for the employer after getting the green card. You just have to make sure that when you filed for the gree card you filed it in good faith to work for the employer. Getting EB3 does not mean you have to work for the employer forever. Also these stuff would not be even asked during naturalization process. You must have got the lawyer from Envoy who are giving you these stupid explanation

@La Moin I agree! Paying upwards of 20k to work a low level job and people like @Alex Alex @Jack Nguy @P M all saying that he still needs to work is beyond insane! I think BDV plants these fake people here just to give these misleading answers. Nowhere it states in the green card application that the applicant must work for the employer after getting the green card. Again when you applied for the GC it must be in good faith and you truly intended to work for the employer. Very less people give educated answers like you and most people here just follow what BDV and their pupppet tell them!

@Alex Alex you work for BDV? you are always telling people that they need to work. I agree with @Mark White
