next steps advice once I-130 is approved - filling from UK
hi everyone,
filled for my I-130 on 12/22/2022 through Texas centre and on 11/15/2023 - we were approved 🙌🏼 🙌🏼
felt like a long wait but definitely worth it, this community was a great place to gain advice and read similar stories.
does anyone know what my next steps would be now that the I-130 is arrproved. I’m currently in the UK and my wife is a citizen in the US.
hoping someone could help with potential next steps and approximate time frames. thank you all.

after your i130 gets approved, it will be sent to the National Visa Center (NVC). the NVC will then send you an email (this should be within a few days after i130 approval). this email will contain your new case number, as well as your invoice number for the NVC website. log in, then their you can upload all of the documents needed (civil docs, police certificate, taxes, etc) and pay fees. after those are all approved, it is sent to the consulate (in your case, a consulate in the UK). after they review it, they will send you a letter for an interview. I hope this helped!! congrats!

also I forgot to mention, after submitting all the documents on NVC, it takes 7-10 days for them to approve it. mine took exactly 8 days.

hi @L C this is great. thank you so much for your help.
I will keep my eyes peeled for the email, thank you. I’m guessing there could be a little delay with it being so close to thanksgiving and Christmas etc.
sorry for questions, what would you estimate for a GC to be in hand if all went well in order to travel/move etc?
reallty appreciate your help. thank you

@Sean F no problem. I’m a us citizen and my husband lives in europe so we’re going through the same thing. on November 3rd our documents got approved by NVC so now we’re just waiting for the interview letter. I’m not sure how long this part takes but I pray it isn’t long. as for the GC, I’m not sure. I don’t have much info on that. however when my brother and sister in law went through this same process, she got her GC within 2 weeks of being in America. however, that was back in 2016 where there weren’t as many backlogs. Visa Journey is a good website to look at for different peoples timelines. that’s what I’ve been looking at lately.

My husband is in the UK. He was sent his interview letter on the 4th of October. Interview was 16th of November ( approved ). Depending on when you did your medical they give you a deadline to be in the US, his was 9th of January.
My Visa Journey has so much about this and is usually more helpful for checking timelines. Happy to answer any more questions if you have them. Good luck!!
A tip : make sure you’ve scanned the documents to a high quality , they have directions on this if you go looking . NVC will reject your documents if they’re not a certain dpi AND they won’t tell you why or what you’ve done incorrectly !
