I had my interview last month and did my oath ceremony same day. I had a very wonderful IO , it lasted for abt 10-15mins. It was more like a convo than an interview.

did my interview on the 14th floor then I was sent to 15th floor for oath ceremony. Some persons have interview on the 15th floor as well

I think it's 3 oath ceremony they have for the day cause I was in the last batch. My ceremony was around 2pm. My interview was schedule for 9am but didn't get interviewed until around 10:30 or so.

@Shan N did your oath happen in sep? apparently I have 1 data points from Oct 22 where a person was approved and told all os clear but oath will come later. when he asked, the officer said that same day oaths are stopped for now..

@chris l I do not use any app. for civics simply downloaded the 128 as well as 100 questions and did all of them. I am aware I needed only the 100, but no harm know some extra stuff 🙂

I heard from a known lawyer that same day is canceled in NJ. as per geo political analysts, shutdown is not going to end in 2025 likely. this is really disheartening what i would love to know is that what kind of wait are people who got verbally approved seeing for the actual oath notice

some FOs schedule oaths every 2 weeks, some every month. Not sure about Newark.

@spudzie r thanks. yeah unfortunately newark is a monthly cycle if I look at both interview scheduling batch trends or 2020 2021 data when same day oath wasn't happening due to covid. it seems most people got a 4 to 5 week notice

@vic s as in, the notice that the oath ceremony is scheduled came in 4-5 weeks, or the oath itself?

no from notice to actual ceremony the variable of actual notice is large. some get it next day...some wait months. it's unknown. depends on what kind of quality checks they restart. sometimes they restart all background checks. sometimes they might ask for documents etc

@spudzie r didnt go well yesterday. there was a long trip mostly on advanced parole in 2020 (valid and irrelevant to the green card period) that was due to covid lockdown travel disruptions that yr. 30 days overlapped with lpr period. rest of interview went fine but officer said she will check deeply even though I gave all docs and clear explanation. my civics and English were passed strongly, even complimented by officer. but in the n652 even civics clear is not marked. in addition to decision can not be made today (which they usually click) even "uscis will send you a written notice.." is clicked. so im worried if they are intending to deny/ rfe. agonizing wait again starts for me :(

@vic s Sorry to hear that. if it is denied, you can file immediately since you’ll be eligible now. don’t worry about it too much.

keep in mind, if they are verifying dates with DHS, things were probably postponed quite a bit because of the shutdown. if there’s no other issue with your case, then it’s just waiting, which is common these days.

@spudzie r thanks! I think she already had the CBP details (trip dates) in front of her and thats all she needed. I gave her a neat 1 pager of a summary of all trips and physical presence days calculated as well which she appreciated. my intuitive impression- the trips was just an excuse to say but she was predefined that they are holding most cases and queuing up for later review/ approval as they dont have the pressure of same day oath anymore. although not 100% if for any case they feel something tricky/ suspicious, unlikely though possible that they will just sit on it for weeks without an rfe or escalation. I think there is a legal 120 calendar day legal limit for them to issue a decision. thus logically thinking if they find issues, they will try start investigative stuff as soon as possible as opposed to postponing it for weeks. but you never know...
