Newark - Asylum Individual Hearing
Hello community,
My parents have their individual hearing scheduled for May. Their asylum case has been pending since 2018, and with everything currently happening in immigration, I’m really worried about what could happen to them.
Although we do have an attorney, he doesn’t seem very reliable at this point—nothing has been prepared yet. Because of that, I’d really appreciate any recommendations from people who have gone through this process. If you know any trustworthy attorneys in the area with a strong approval rate, I’d be grateful for your suggestions.
I would also appreciate any advice on what to bring or how to best prepare for the individual hearing.
Thank you so much.

Hi, please let him have ALL evidence and proof that his life was and is in danger back in his country; police arrest and police bond, medical records, affidavits from family and friends confirming that his life was in danger. Proof that he was active in politics or whatever area he participated that his life was in danger. If he was ever persecuted, does he have physical mark on his body or any health issues he suffered from and probably still suffer from (any medical records as proof of continuous medical attention he received while in the USA due to the persecution he had back home).
Also, let him have details of the form he filled out while he applied for the visa while in his country: who did he come to visit, address, relationship to that person. and others.
Let him be confident and truthful.
Just to let you know, my friend got her asylum granted at Newark. The interview took around 3 hours.
I wish your dad success.
