new immigration law
we are currently waiting on Juarez visa appointment over 3 yrs since it’s a long wait list.
new law was approved and now I guess a judge in Texas put a halt on it, so sad.
hubby has been here over 10yrs , we’ve paid taxes all those years, married n kids. so sad to see stuff like this on halt tbh.

There are US citizen spouses living overseas that need to be processed first. These are priority. People waiting for AOS to be processed which is also priority.
MP MAug 27, 2024
@K 🇺🇸 D 🇭🇳 why are the people who live overseas a priority? those are two very different categories, but I'm very interested to hear why should ppl who live overseas be a priority
MP MAug 27, 2024
@K 🇺🇸 D 🇭🇳 how is this a nonsense, it's very similar to i130 "married to a citizen" . this will 100% go through, the only reason to be put on hold is that SOME of illegally present people might have broken federal laws by crossing the border. Other than that this is just an i130 really
K 🇺🇸 D 🇭🇳 Aug 27, 2024
@MP M do you understand what PIP is? The person entered illegally married a US citizen, and now they get bumped up before everyone else who has already been waiting? Not similar at all because their cases were being approved in days while waiting over a year have to wait and wait. Many of them are separated from their spouses during this process.
K 🇺🇸 D 🇭🇳 Aug 27, 2024
@MP M Honestly looking at your timeline you should be mad about it too. You came in on an EB 3, legally and now doing adjustment of status. Why should anyone following the law take the back burner? The PIP that was suspended the other day was specifically for people with unlawful presence that married a US citizen.
Bokee 🇨🇩Aug 27, 2024
@MP M not only those who are crossing the border, but also those who are overstaying there work/study or holidays visas.
it's not fair for those who are in the legal process to wait longer than those who have broken the law.
Bokee 🇨🇩Aug 27, 2024
@K 🇺🇸 D 🇭🇳 you are right!!
Aug 28, 2024
@MP M Yes, US citizens are the top priorities in all this sh!tshow. And the hold by that Texas judge brings some justice to this whole depressing process.
We are law-abiding US citizens who chose to follow the law and we're been literally punished for doing so when filing "STAND ALONE I-130's" for our foreign national spouses and have to wait, at least, 2 years to reunite with our loved ones while people crossing illegally the border or overstaying their visas, once they marry a US citizen have their I-130 & I-485 adjudicated, in countless cases, in less than a year and issued a green card.
MP MAug 28, 2024
@K 🇺🇸 D 🇭🇳 1 of the requirement is that the applicant have been present in the country for at least 10 years, right? when you think about it, there's not enough cases to affect/backlog the immigration system at all, I don't believe they're processing those cases with priority anyway. A few months back I had a biometrics appointment and the room was filled with Ukrainian nationals, a lady told me that they get their green cards within 60 days, maybe the situation in Ukraine is what's creating the backlog in I don't know. I sensed you don't like Biden, but they've really sped up the process
MP MAug 28, 2024
@ @Bokee 🇨🇩 you guys are new in here and probably don't understand the process, but all this backlog that we're experiencing at the moment is a result of Trump/ covid times, keep that in mind. Also, NOT A SINGLE undocumented has priority over a spouse of a us citizen, you're just not informed about that or just being paranoid tbh :)
Aug 28, 2024
@MP M That Covid pretext is pure BS. Covid is gone now since 2022 which is enough to clear the backlog. 2024 is an election year. Stats show that new citizens register and vote democrats. N400 (Citizenship application form) up to last year, took at least 6-7 months to be adjudicated. In 2024, N400s have been adjudicated at blazing fast speed like never before, in some cases it only took 2 months from filing to the oath of ceremony. What is the rationale that explains the discrepancy between the way things are dealt with in dft embassies/consulates vs domestically. There is just no political will to fix the backlog at dft US posts overseas for US citizens-related affairs.
K 🇺🇸 D 🇭🇳 Aug 28, 2024
@MP M just going to agree to disagree with you… this argument has popped up a lot on the forum and I don’t think many people will see eye to eye on this. ✌🏻
MP MAug 28, 2024
@ the bottleneck was real during Trump/Covid, I don't know based on what are you calling it bs(you shouldn't trust everything trump says :)) . It seems fast to you because you're comparing it to the data from trump presidency, see the statistics prior to trump and compare it to todays processing times.
MP MAug 28, 2024
@K 🇺🇸 D 🇭🇳 yeah, I agree. the problem is more complex than it appears to most people, and of course some people feel entitled so it's impossible to have a rational conversation on this topic. GL to you guys
Aug 28, 2024
@MP M Dude, you just don't know what you're talking about. Peace out!!
MP MAug 28, 2024
@ you've been in this game for two months bro. Based on all your comments today, you have no clue, nothing to back your words "covid was in 2022 that's enough time to clear the backlog" ,pretty much every comment you made was just pure nonsense. But America needs people like you! God bless America 🇺🇸
zip hipAug 28, 2024
@K 🇺🇸 D 🇭🇳 so sad to see your commenting to argue instead of just being supportive.
not once did I say this my case was more important then the other, not once did I say whatever your saying has no importance. if your have an undocumented spouse waiting for papers one would think you have understanding but seems your just being defensive at the wrong thing.
you could of easily said, this is all a shitshow we all feel your frustration or something 🙄but instead you said it’s non sense, I don’t see it being nonsense when someone who has lived in the USA for over 20yrs be paying taxes and providing income to the USA and community to be nonsense. your written posts to my post and to @MP M is nonsense.
MP MAug 28, 2024
@zip hip I hope everything works out good for you. Something has to change, people are paying way too high price for papers. Hard working, honest people deserve better, this immigration reform is way overdue.
zip hipAug 28, 2024
thank you @MP M I agree! way overdue.
K 🇺🇸 D 🇭🇳 Aug 28, 2024
@zip hip you don’t know me, and your comment is just putting words in my mouth. Clearly you don’t understand my point. I am not even going to try to explain any further.
