@divine intervention The NOID said they could not verify my divorce online and asked to provide a verified once. I contacted high court of Lagos. they gave me a new one with new case number that I confirm online via Lagos state hight court portal. I submitted it to USCIS and Gbam! case was denied. So my law firm appealed for it telling them what they asked for was provided and can be verified online so it was Approved a month after the appealed.

@divine intervention for all of us that filled from 2016 till after trump left who was married in Nigeria and did his or her divorce in Nigeria. All was rejected because they found out that we don’t have them In records. USCIS was rejecting or sending out RFE/NOID for you to provide another one. Lagos high court is aware because USCIS has been sending representatives over to confirm. If anyone here have such issue please contact hight court of Lagos they will do another one for you that anyone can confirm it online even though it will cost you a lot but it will be verified online anyday anytime.

@Jacky J the new divorce state a current date cos it’s a new one. if it states the old date USCIS will call it fraud. hence the date is past it just state a new date with a back up letter from hight court why they issue you a new one and reference the old one. Also with a letter from an attorney in Nigeria too.

but what if it’s was a traditional wedding which was dissolved through the customary court? those this still works if they request to get an original one @manny pop congrats once again.

@me & you As far as I know, they are not accepting the customary court ni more. But my advice is to wait till you hear from them before you worry or stress yourself because different case for different people.

@lala lala USCIS issue NOID( Notice of Intent to Deny ), in the notice it was stated that the divorce papers i submitted was not valid and cannot be verified online. they asked that I provide a genuine one. That was the reason for the NOID. so I got a new one that I was able to confirm online by myself via the Lagos hight court portal. after submitting it my case was denied. so the appeal is basically questioning USCIS that what they asked for was provided and it was real therefore they have no reason to deny the case. Then after that the case was approved.

hi @manny pop what state are you? i want share my vawa journey I filed 2016 concurrently I-360 I-485 i waited for 8 years before i got update for my i 485 they send me rfe for medical last April 2023 to wrong address i went to my local field office thats was I found out they mailed to wrong and my rfe was expired it’s already over 60 days so the officer told me to write a cover letter to let them know what happened why i haven’t responded on time for my medical. I already mailed my medical first week of October but still I don’t hear nothing from them this so frustrating…

@Hercie P I’m from newyork , field office is Brooklyn newyork …. 1 - How did you find out the they sent RFE to wrong address. 2 - When did you notice that the RFE was send out. 3 - Did you move and forget to change your address. Reasons for these questions is to know if the fault is from you or from USCIS. Because they might think you got it but trying to get excuses for not meeting up the deadline .

@manny pop i moved here in California from Illinois and I changed my address mailed to Vermont and NBC twice and i keep my receipts. i emailed the White House seeking help for my case last march then the White House emailed me that my I-485 is in my local field office and they confirmed the my case is outside normal processing time should my local field will contact me with 30 days starting the date I received the email from White House. it’s been past 30 days haven’t heard from my local office so i made appointment to my local office that’s what i found out they send to my old address

been 20 days now since they updated they received my medical

@manny pop this is frustrating i like losing hope my daughter was 10 since applied my case and now she 18 soon going to college so much stress I don’t know what to do

@Hercie P Hence they have updated that they received your medical I think you should be good and you should receive your greencard soon because you priority date would have passed. Meanwhile don’t just sit and fold your arms, I will advice you reach out to your congressman to help you start following up with USCIS. It will make it super fast. I wish you all the best.

I have a question. what if you file vawa when your ex is a lpr and now became a usc. how do you go about this? it's been 9 months since I apply. I did biometric and I got my first prime facie and so on, so I'm just wondering should I just wait for approval? 🤷‍♀️ or what? plus if they ask for my ex proof of usc which I don't have how do I even do that smh I'm stressing rn. 😤

should I write to vawa and let them know that he is a usc now and what should i do. because that's what I'm really planning on doing honestly and how I know because he told our daughter and she told me that's how I know he is a usc. because I really don't speak to him

How much did you pay for the appeal and why did the denied tou first?

@S O The amount will depend on your attorney . they charge differently for cases and responses. They denied the case base on the initial notice about my divorce paper from Nigeria . The appeal was to let them know that we have providing a new one that can be verified online via the Lagos high court portal. Right after that they approve the case .
