contact an attorney please ! Gather all the proofs that you entered into the marriage in good faith and also it the divorce happens before your interview make sure you inform the officer otherwise this could be considered as a lie since your application is based on still married ! I went through a similar case years ago but the divorce happened on the second year before I filed the I 751 ! my case was pending until I naturalized the 3rd years . As long as you entered the marriage in good faith even though divorce happens with a good atty you should be ok

you can wait until they call you for interview and explain yourself on the spot or wait maybe you get an approval without interview or wait until they schedule an appointment and then before you attend , send an amendment to your application requesting a waiver

@Shee ja
I’ve been in the same situation .
I waited until the divorce was finalized , I sent them an amendment with a letter to explain the situation and I got approved without interview. don’t freak out . it happens ! always say the truth !

hope soonOct 17, 2025
@Shee ja yes just a letter with supporting evidence house lease insurance bank statement joint bills and the divorce decree. if you prove your marriage is solid and explain the situation with exact dates , try to make sense in your statements. they’ll approve your GCand waive the interview

@Shee ja - First of all it is a material change in the I 751 filing for you. How you wish the marriage persisted but well sometimes relationships dont pan out despite all the love and affection. Sorry to hear the situation you are in.
Where are you located and which office is processing your case?
Considering the brief facts you have mentioned if you can retain an attorney that would be less stressful than handling it all by yourself in my opinion.
If you would like to go through on your own, as some commentators have mentioned due consider sending or uploading documentation highlighting the divorce and yet emphasising the relationship was in good faith and not entered only for immigration benefits.
My best wishes.
