name spelling on I -130 vs passport for DS-260
hi community! anyone knows what should I do: my parents 130 was approved, they are married and have the same last name in their country of origin (my maiden name). Now we need to fill out their ds 260 and we discovered that my mom’s last name is spelled slightly different (instead of Kaliy, they transliterated into English as Kalii) what should I do? my understanding it’s important to match passport to ds 260 but NVC has a slightly different name on file, will it be an issue? or do they understand that when trying to translate last name there could be variances in spelling?

Fill DS-260 with the exact names used in the passport. The confusion will be sorted out if raised during their interview in the consulate. My wife’s name used in I-130 was based on her birth certificate which had one character difference than the one used in DS-260 since there it required passport spelling and nothing else and had no issues.
