Has anyone else had challenges with the register for selective service requirement? I applied for a green card a couple years ago and was not made aware that I needed to also register for selective service. Fast forward a couple years and I’m now applying to become a US citizen and I’m over 26 years old and can no longer register for selective service and need to submit a letter of explanation as to why.
Has anyone else had to do this?
What was the outcome?
Does applying for a green card automatically register you for selective service?

I found out, USCIS automatically is supposed to register. During adjustment of status I have given them a written permission to do so and they have failed to do it
