N-400 Interview Passed, RFE Submitted – Still No Decision
I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. I passed my N-400 interview back in December 2022, but the officer told me that a decision could not be made at that time. Shortly after, I received a Request for Evidence (RFE), which I responded to promptly.
It’s now been over a year and a half, and I still haven’t received any update or decision from USCIS. The case status remains unchanged.
Has anyone experienced such a long delay after submitting an RFE?
Has anyone taken legal action (such as filing a writ of mandamus) against USCIS due to this kind of prolonged delay?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences or any advice on what steps I can take next.

hey! I have quite similar situation, was interviewed, passed it all, the decision wasn’t made, officer told me if I submit all required documents as a RFE response, I will be just fine, after submitting tons of documents they have issued me the second RFE - I have spoken to lawyer, he suggested this RFE was nothing but a nitpicking; I have sent it my second response and it’s been over 3 months now and I haven’t gotten decision yet. I have made service request - silence again. my next step will be contacting local congressman and if that doesn’t move the case, I will have to consider writ of mandamus. I agree with previous comment - reach out to your local government and hopefully this will help. And as I said, the last resort will be suing them, which I hope won’t be necessary 🙏

I already contacted the ombudsman and senators many times. They did nothing! It’s taking so long and honestly, the officer I had during interview was new, didn’t have the knowledge and was complaining how tired she was ( it was Friday) 😂🤦🏽♀️

I submitted the RFE regarding the taxes which I already gave to my officer during the interview.
