N-400 & I-751 Complete Timeline, Queens, NY
Finally completed my immigration journey today. Oath ceremony today and got my certificate of naturalization. Super grateful and happy it’s finally over. Oath ceremony was originally scheduled on 1/9, but it was cancelled and rescheduled to 1/23 due to Jimmy Carter’s Memorial Day of mourning.
Marriage based green card, at Queens, NY.
I-751 was assigned at Potomac and N-400 was assigned at National Benefits Center.
Had combo interview for both in December.

@ricka mc @Espensive Boston oh my It was over a month ago so I don’t remember fully… I think he asked me who is the current president, what month do we vote for the president, name 3 national holidays… it was a blur haha, and then he asked me to write “We pay taxes” as the English test. Then he just went through the application’s questions and asked if I want to change any of my answers. for I-751 he asked my spouse and I how long we’ve been married, when was the last time we traveled, which relative of our spouse’s are we the closest to.

did you have to file taxes with your spouse or you filed married but filing separately?

@Eugene M the timeline shown here is a bit confusing, I got my notice of interview on 10/31/2024, applied for N-400 at end of June, applied for I-751 at end of July 2023. The interview was on 12/12/2024. So it’s about 4 months from N-400 application, and 15 months from I-751 application.

@Ndy wils I always filed taxes with my spouse, I believe it’s one of the factors they look into, financial unions. I would file together unless there’s special reasons
